Halh Mongolian 2013 Edition (KHKMUB)
Overview
The Halh Mongolian 2013 Edition (Ариун Библи 2013) is a revised New Testament published by the Mongolian Union Bible Society (Ариун Бичээс Нийгэмлэг). [1] Work on translating the Bible into Mongolian began in 1971 under the auspices of what would become the Bible Society of Mongolia, at a time when Mongolia was politically closed to the West under Soviet influence. [2] The first Mongolian New Testament was published on 11 August 1990 by the United Bible Societies in Hong Kong, just 13 days after Mongolia's first free election — at a point when the country had no churches. [2] The Bible Society of Mongolia was formally registered in early 1991, and the Mongolian Bible Translation Committee completed a full New Testament in 1996 and the complete Bible in 2000. [2] In 2001, Wycliffe Bible Translators and United Bible Societies carried out a formal translation consultant check of the entire text, which was back-translated into English for review. [2] The translation was subsequently revised in 2004, 2008, 2011, and 2013. [1] This 2013 edition uses traditional Mongolian terminology and follows a more literal translation style, making it widely used across Mongolian churches. [1]
