Rutwa Scripture Portions — Excellence in Life Ministries (KIMELM)
Overview
This audio Scripture resource was produced by Excellence in Life Ministries for the Rutwa-speaking community. Rutwa (also called Rutwa-Kisoro) is a dialect variety of Kinyarwanda spoken in the border region between Rwanda and southwestern Uganda, particularly in the Kisoro district. While standard Kinyarwanda has a complete Bible and is the official language of Rwanda, the Rutwa dialect community benefits from resources produced in their own distinct speech variety, which can differ sufficiently from standard Kinyarwanda to warrant separate materials. Excellence in Life Ministries is an organization engaged in ministry and outreach in the Great Lakes region of Africa, supporting local churches through Scripture resources and ministry training. Audio Scripture resources are especially valuable for communities where literacy rates may be variable or where the oral tradition remains central to community life.

The Rutwa variety is associated with communities in the Kisoro area of southwestern Uganda near the Rwandan border. Kinyarwanda is one of the official languages of Rwanda. [Glottolog: kiny1244]
