Bible Portions in Khmu (KJGWBT)
Overview
This volume contains Bible portions in the Khmu language, written in the Lao script (Laoo), published by Wycliffe Bible Translators. The Khmu are the largest ethnic minority group in Laos, comprising approximately 10% of the country's population, and are considered one of the oldest and largest Christian communities in Asia without a complete Bible translation in their own language [1][2]. An estimated 60,000 or more Khmu across Southeast Asia are Christians, many of whom first encountered Christianity through radio broadcasts by the Far East Broadcasting Company (FEBC), which produces the only Christian programming available in the Khmu language [2][3]. Prior to this publication, available Khmu-language scripture included Ruth and Luke in Lao script, published in a 2009 edition [4]. Because Khmu believers in Laos and neighboring countries face restrictions on obtaining Bibles through normal channels, organizations such as Biblia Global have undertaken efforts to print and deliver scriptures to Khmu communities [1].
