Mek Kosarek Bible Portions (KKLWBT)
Overview
Portions of the Holy Bible in the Mek Kosarek language of Papua Province, Indonesia, titled "Allah Yubu" in the vernacular. Published on September 5, 2015, by Wycliffe Bible Translators, this edition represents the culmination of scripture translation work among the Kosarek that began with the first Bible portions in 1992 [1][2]. The Kosarek Yale language belongs to the Mek branch of the Trans-New Guinea language family, spoken by the Wanam Kosarek people who inhabit the remote eastern highlands of Papua Province, in Kosarek District, Yahukimo Regency, east of the Yali of Ninia and north of Angguruk [3][4]. Approximately 68% of the Kosarek identify as Christian, though traditional animistic beliefs remain significant in the community [3]. A New Testament in Kosarek Yale was subsequently completed in 2023 [2]. The 2015 Bible portions are available in multiple digital formats and are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives 4.0 license [1].
