Kindibu Scripture Portions — ACTB-RDC (KNGACT)
Overview
This audio Scripture resource in the Kindibu dialect of Kikongo was produced by the Association Congolaise de Traductions de la Bible (ACTB-RDC), the Congolese Association for Bible Translation. ACTB-RDC is a national Bible translation organization based in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, that works in partnership with international organizations to translate, record, and distribute the Bible in the many languages and dialects of the DRC. Kindibu is one of the recognized western dialects of the broader Kikongo language cluster, historically used in the Matadi area of the Bas-Congo region. ACTB-RDC has produced oral Bible translations in multiple Kikongo varieties, recognizing that while a standard Kikongo Bible exists, communities across the Kongo-speaking region respond most deeply to Scripture in their own local speech variety. Their tagline is "Translating the Bible is our vocation."
Language and People
Kindibu is a western dialect of Koongo (Kikongo, ISO 639-3: kng), a Bantu language spoken by approximately 6.7 million people across the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, and the Republic of Congo.
