Kuranko Common Language Bible (KNKBSL)

Overview

The Kuranko Common Language Bible is the New Testament in the Kuranko language, published in 2006 by the Bible Society of Sierra Leone. Kuranko is a Mande language spoken in northern Sierra Leone and parts of Guinea. [1] An earlier Genesis portion in Kuranko was published in 1993. [2] The Kuranko Literacy and Scripture Engagement Program, managed by Lutheran Bible Translators, began in 2000 to equip community members to read and engage with the translated Scriptures. When external funding ceased after five years, five communities maintained literacy classes through volunteer efforts, partnering with The Institute of Sierra Leonean Languages (TISLL) for technical support, and sustained operations independently for 18 years.
