Kinaray-A 2009 Edition (KRJWBT)
Overview
The Kinaray-a New Testament, titled Ang bag-o nga kasugtanan, was published in 2009 by Wycliffe Bible Translators [1][2]. Kinaray-a (ISO 639-3: krj), also known as Karay-a, Antiqueño, or Hinaray-a, is an Austronesian language spoken primarily in Antique Province on the island of Panay in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines [3][4]. With over 600,000 speakers, Kinaray-a was officially recognized by the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) in 2016 as one of the 19 major languages of the Philippines [4]. Earlier Bible portions in Kinaray-a were completed between 1982 and 1985, laying the groundwork for the full New Testament [1]. The Kinaray-a Old Testament translation is currently in progress, with a team including PJ Jaudines, John Rey Solis, and Jerk Antonio working in partnership with the Translators Association of the Philippines [5][6].
