Kambaata Bible Society Version (KTBBSE)
Overview
The Kambaata Bible Society Version is a New Testament translation in the Kambaata language, published by the Bible Society of Ethiopia. The earliest Scripture portions in Kambaata, including Genesis, date to 1980. [1] The complete New Testament was first published in the Ethiopic syllabary (Ge'ez script) in 1992, and was later republished in Latin letters. [2] Kambaata is a Highland East Cushitic language spoken in south-central Ethiopia, and the translation serves a growing Christian community in the Kambaata Zone. The two dominant Protestant denominations in the region trace their roots to the Sudan Interior Mission (SIM) and to Scandinavian Lutheran missionaries connected to the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus. [2]
