Kutep 1995 Edition (KUBNBT)
Overview
The Kutep 1995 Edition contains the New Testament and portions of the Old Testament in the Kutep language of Nigeria. The translation is a revision, indicating it builds upon earlier Scripture work in the language. [1] The New Testament was completed in 2017, with initial translation work beginning around 1985. [2] The text is copyrighted jointly by the Nigeria Bible Translation Trust (NBTT) and Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. [1] NBTT, headquartered in Jos, Nigeria, is a mission organization dedicated to translating the Scriptures into minority languages across the country. [3]
Language and People
Kutep (ISO 639-3: kub), also known as Kuteb or Kutev, is a Jukunoid language spoken primarily in the Takum and Ussa Local Government Areas of Taraba State in southern Nigeria, with a small number of speakers across the border in Cameroon. [4] The Kuteb people number approximately 91,000 in Nigeria. [2] The population is predominantly Christian, with an estimated 93% identifying as Christian adherents. [2] Glottolog: kute1248.
