The New Testament in Konai (KXWWBT)

Overview

Konai: Godiha̱ Ta̱ Bolofe̱i̱ New Testament. Konai, also known as Kalai, is a Trans-New Guinea language of the East Strickland branch, spoken on the west bank of the upper Strickland River in Western Province, Papua New Guinea [1][2]. The Konai (Mirapmin) people number approximately 700, and the language is a stable indigenous language used as a first language by all members of the ethnic community [2][3]. Bible portions in Konai were first published in 2005, and the New Testament was completed in 2014 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. [3][4]. SIL linguists Soren and Britten Arsjo documented the phonology and orthography of the Konai language as part of the broader translation effort [5]. The translation is titled "Godiha Ta Bolofei" in the Konai language [4].
