Lalia Scripture Portions — Communauté des Eglises Travaillistes (LALCET)

Overview

This audio Scripture resource in the Lalia language was produced by the Communauté des Eglises Travaillistes (CET), a Congolese church community organization active in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The CET is among the network of indigenous church bodies in the DRC that have undertaken Scripture translation and distribution projects to serve their own linguistic communities. Lalia is a Bantu language of the DRC with approximately 148,000 speakers, and Bible portions in audio form represent a significant step toward Scripture access for a community that has not yet had a complete New Testament or full Bible. The Democratic Republic of Congo contains hundreds of distinct language communities; while Lingala and Swahili serve as trade languages with complete Bibles, smaller languages like Lalia require dedicated translation efforts by local church organizations to ensure Scripture reaches people in their heart language.
