Overview

Genesis, Ruth, Jonah, and The New Testament in the Tungag Language of Papua New Guinea. Tungag (also known as Lavongai) is an Austronesian language spoken on the island of New Hanover and neighboring islands in New Ireland Province. [1] The language has several dialects, with the major distinction being between villages on the south coast and those from the western tip to the islands on the north coast. [1] This 1998 edition, published by the Bible Society of Papua New Guinea, includes the complete New Testament along with Old Testament portions from Genesis, Ruth, and Jonah, providing Scripture in a language used as the first language by the entire ethnic community.
