The Lenyima audio scripture resource produced by the Go Ye Translators Initiative brings the Word of God to the Anyima Nyima people of Cross River State, Nigeria, who speak the Lenyima language. The approximately 23,000 Lenyima speakers live primarily in the town of Inyima in Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River State. Lenyima is an Upper Cross River language, and while the community uses English for education and public communication, Lenyima remains dominant in the home and among community members. [1] The vast majority of Lenyima speakers are Christian, and the community has expressed a strong desire for scripture in their heart language. Audio scripture distribution addresses the need given that literacy rates in the vernacular remain low.
