Luqa Full Bible (LGAEBL)

Overview

The Luqa Full Bible contains the New Testament plus Genesis, Ruth, and Jonah in the Lungga (Luqa) language, a Malayo-Polynesian language spoken by about 2,800 people on the southern half of Ranongga Island, Solomon Islands. [1] This builds on a long translation history: Dr. Alphaeus Zobule translated the New Testament ("Na Vinaego Koregana"), published by the South Pacific Bible Society in 2002 and launched on Ranongga in 2004. Zobule was the first person to put the orally spoken Luqa language into written form. [2] The 2024 edition (copyright: The Seed Company and Islands Bible Ministries) adds Old Testament portions to the earlier work.
