Lampung Api Today's Lampung New Testament (LJPLAI)

Overview

The Lampung Api Today's Lampung New Testament is the first New Testament translation in the Lampung Api language, published by the Indonesian Bible Society (Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia) in 2002. Lampung Api (also called Pesisir or Say Batin) is spoken in the Lampung province on the southern tip of Sumatra. [1] It is considered the prestige variety among the Lampung language dialects. [1] The Lampung people have a long literary tradition: the Lampung script (Aksara Lampung or Had Lampung), an abugida with 20 main characters and 13 diacritics, has been in use for perhaps a thousand years for writing spells, letters, traditional laws, and religious works. [2] Today, printed materials in Lampung typically use the Latin script with Indonesian orthography. [1]
