Saluan 2002 Bible (LOELAI)

Overview

The Saluan 2002 Bible, titled Kitab Nu Tumpu Alla Lele Ma'imai' ("The Holy Book of God, Old and New"), is a complete Old and New Testament in the contemporary Saluan language. [1] It was published in 2002 by the Indonesian Bible Society (Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia, LAI), providing Scripture to the Saluan-speaking community of Central Sulawesi. [2] The translation uses a modern, accessible Saluan style intended for today's readers.

Saluan is an Austronesian language of the Saluan-Banggai branch within the Eastern Celebic group, spoken in the eastern part of Central Sulawesi province, Indonesia. [3] The language belongs to the broader Malayo-Polynesian family and is closely related to other Celebic languages of the region. The Saluan people are predominantly found in coastal and lowland areas of the eastern peninsula of Sulawesi, where they practice agriculture and fishing.
