The Mindat audio scripture resource produced by the Neighborhood Bible Translation Initiative (NBTI) brings God's Word to speakers of Mindat, a Sino-Tibetan language of the Chin ethnic group spoken in Mindat District, Chin State, Myanmar. Mindat (also known as Mundat) is spoken by approximately 2,200 people in Myanmar. [1] The Chin peoples of Myanmar have a rich history of Christian faith alongside a long wait for scripture in their own languages; the neighboring Cho Chin of Mindat received their first complete Bible in May 2019, after more than a century of Christian witness in the region. [2] NBTI (Neighborhood Bible Translation Initiative) works to produce scripture resources for smaller language communities, and the audio scripture distribution ensures that Mindat speakers can hear God's Word in their heart language regardless of literacy level.
