Meitei Roman New Testament (MNIWFW)

Overview

The Meitei Roman New Testament, titled Anouba Warepnaba, is a 2022 translation of the New Testament into Manipuri (Meitei) using the Latin (Roman) script, produced jointly by The Word For The World International and NECTAR. [1] Manipuri is the official language of Manipur state in northeast India, with approximately 1.8 million speakers. [2] The language has been written in multiple scripts over its history, including the traditional Meitei Mayek script, the Bengali script, and the Latin alphabet, which is commonly used by Christians in Manipur. [2] This Roman script edition serves the significant Christian community in Manipur who use the Latin alphabet in everyday life and worship, as distinct from the Meitei script (Meetei Mayek) version used in official state contexts.
