Mandinka 2011 Edition (MNKBSG)

Overview

The 2011 Mandinka New Testament is a translation published by the Bible Society of the Gambia as part of a broader effort to make Christian Scripture accessible to the Mandinka-speaking population in their mother tongue. [1] Mandinka is one of the largest West African languages, spoken across the Gambia, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, and Mali. The translation project involved teams of linguists, theologians, and native Mandinka speakers who worked through multiple rounds of review and community field testing. [1] This New Testament edition preceded the complete Mandinka Bible (Kitaabu Senuno), which was published in 2013 in collaboration with the Christian Council of The Gambia and launched at the Glory Baptist Church in Old Jeshwang, the Gambia. [2] WEC International was among the mission organizations that contributed to the broader Mandinka Scripture translation effort. [2]
