Migabac Bible Portions (MPPWBT)

Overview

The Migabac Bible Portions contain Scripture in the Migabac language, a Papuan language of the Trans-New Guinea family spoken in seven villages on the eastern end of the Huon Peninsula in Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea [1]. The translation was produced by Wycliffe Bible Translators and copyrighted in 2010, with the vernacular title "Wapongte hibi: Luka, Salecebaicne, nga Galata," indicating it includes the books of Luke, Acts, and Galatians [2]. Migabac is an SOV clause-chaining language with a switch-reference system, and speakers are divided across two main dialect areas: the northern villages of Walingai and Hudewa, and the southern villages of Kapawa, Daumbole, Tanka, and Butengka [1]. Audio recordings of the Scriptures were completed in 2013, and the translation is now available in multiple digital formats including mobile apps and online platforms [3].
