Minaveha New Testament (MVNMNT)

Overview

The Minaveha New Testament, titled "Awaeha Vovouna Minaveha Movia" in the vernacular, is a translation of the New Testament into Minaveha, an Austronesian (Oceanic) language spoken on the southwest coast of Fergusson Island near Mapamoiwa station in the Bolubolu district of Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea [1][2]. The Minaveha people (also known as Kukuya) number approximately 4,100 individuals, and their language is classified as stable, being used as a first language by all in the ethnic community and also employed as a language of instruction in education [2][3]. Bible portions were first completed between 1993 and 1995, and the full New Testament was published in 2008 by Wycliffe Bible Translators [3]. Christianity is predominant among the Minaveha, with approximately 95% of the population identifying as Christian adherents [3].
