Overview

The Are New Testament Portions, titled "God Wonana Kaoaobaisiyena" in the vernacular, contain portions of the New Testament in the Are language (ISO 639-3: mwc), an Austronesian language spoken in Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea [1][2]. Are is classified as a stable indigenous language that is used as a first language by all members of the ethnic community, with approximately 1,700 speakers [2]. The translation was produced by Wycliffe Bible Translators in partnership with the Bible League (BL), published from Ukarumpa, the SIL International center in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, and copyrighted between 2011 and 2016 [3]. The translation is available through multiple digital platforms including Faith Comes By Hearing and YouVersion [3].
