Maiadomu Mark (MZZWBT)

Overview

The Maiadomu Mark, titled "Maiadomu Malika" in the vernacular, contains the Gospel of Mark translated into the Maiadomu language, an Austronesian language spoken on the northeastern shore of Fergusson Island in the shadow of Mt. Kilkerran in Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea [1][2]. The Maiadomu-speaking community is relatively small, with approximately 900-1,300 speakers, and their villages are rather difficult to access, with the nearest airstrips reachable only by boat or an arduous two-to-three-day hike over mountainous terrain [2][3]. The translation was completed in 2010 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, representing an initial Scripture portion for this language community [4]. Christianity has a significant presence among the Maiadomu people, with approximately 95% identifying as Christian adherents [3].
