Northern Puebla Nahuatl New Testament (NCJTBL)

Overview

The Northern Puebla Nahuatl New Testament was published in 1979 by Wycliffe Bible Translators through Liga Biblica Mundial del Hogar (World Home Bible League). The translation was the work of Earl Brockway and Gertrude (Trudy) Hershey de Brockway, SIL linguists who established themselves in the town of Tlaxpanaloya in the Sierra Norte de Puebla in 1953 and spent approximately 25 years studying the language and preparing literacy materials, stories, and Bible translations for the region's Nahuatl-speaking inhabitants. [1] Northern Puebla Nahuatl is spoken by approximately 60,000 people in the mountainous Sierra Norte region of Puebla state, Mexico. The Brockways also collaborated with Leodegario Santos Valdes on a comprehensive Nahuatl dictionary for the region. [2]
