Chumburung New Testament (NCUWBT)

Overview

The Chumburung New Testament, titled Abware̱se̱ŋ Wo̱re̱-ɔ, is the first complete New Testament in the Chumburung language, a North Guang language spoken on both sides of the southwestern leg of Lake Volta in Ghana. [1] Translation work on the Chumburung language project began in 1982 under SIL and the Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation (GILLBT), with Keith and Ruth Snider and another couple helping to complete an initial New Testament in 1987. [2] [3] The published 2010 edition by Wycliffe Bible Translators represents the culmination of decades of linguistic and translation work among the Chumburung community in the Kpandai District and surrounding areas.
