Séréel Ndút (NT Portions) (NDVWBT)
Overview
The Séréel Ndút contains New Testament portions and Genesis in the Ndut language of Senegal, completed and dedicated in 2020 [1]. The translation project was initiated by Dan Morgan, a Wycliffe Bible Translators missionary who lived in Senegal for sixteen years, during which he analyzed the grammar of Ndut, created reading materials, and trained teachers for early reading classes [1]. Working with two native Ndut speakers, Morgan began the Bible translation work before moving to Germany in 2008 for his children's education, at which point a colleague took over the project to bring it to completion [1]. Morgan also authored an academic grammar of the language, Overview of Grammatical Structures of Ndut: A Cangin Language of Senegal, published through SIL International [2]. The Ndut are ethnically Serer but speak a distinct Cangin language rather than Serer-Sine [3].
