Toura (Côte d’Ivoire) 2004 Edition (NEBWYI)
Overview
This edition contains Scripture portions in Toura (also known as Tura or Ween), a Southern Mande language spoken by approximately 91,000 people in the mountainous Biankouma department of western Côte d'Ivoire. [1] Bible portions in Toura date back to 1972, with New Testament translation work spanning from 1979 to 2004. [2] SIL International has been involved in linguistic documentation of the Toura language since at least the 1970s, producing scholarly work on Toura discourse patterns and phonology. [3] The translation was published in 2004 by Wycliffe Bible Translators to serve the predominantly rural Toura community in the Montagnes District, east of the main Man-Touba road. [1]
