Today's Napu Version (NT) (NPYLAI)

Overview

Today's Napu Version (Sura Malelaha) is a New Testament translation in the Napu language, published by the Indonesian Bible Society (LAI) in 2000. [1] Napu is an Austronesian language of the Badaic subgroup, spoken in the Napu Valley within the Lore Lindu National Park area of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. [2] Bible selections in Napu were first published in 1991, preceding the complete New Testament. [3] The translation has been supported by the GKST (Gereja Kristen Sulawesi Tengah, Central Sulawesi Christian Church), the largest Protestant denomination in the region. [4] Following the completion of the New Testament and consultant checks on ten Old Testament books, the Napu translation team has been pioneering the use of Assisted Translation Technology (ATT) to accelerate work toward a complete Napu Bible, beginning with pilot translations of 1 Samuel and Isaiah.
