Ot Danum New Testament (OTDLAI)

Overview

The Ot Danum New Testament (Bowot Bohua) was published in 1997 by the Indonesian Bible Society (Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia, LAI) as the first Scripture translation in the Ot Danum language. [1] The Ot Danum are a Dayak people inhabiting the upper reaches of the Kapuas River and the areas along the Schwaner Range in Central Kalimantan, Borneo. [2] The New Testament has been well received by Ot Danum-speaking Christian communities across four provinces of Kalimantan, and approximately twenty-five years after its completion the community requested that the Old Testament also be translated. [2] LAI commenced the Old Testament translation project, with a first checking session held in Palangkaraya in March 2025 reviewing draft translations of Ruth, Obadiah, and Jonah under the guidance of LAI Translation Supervisor Dr. Lady Mandalika. [1] Once complete, it will be the first full Bible in Ot Danum.
