Eastern Highland Otomi New Testament (OTMWBT)

Overview

The Eastern Highland Otomi New Testament, titled Ra 'da'yonhogui nangue ma Hmuhʉ ra Jesucristo, was first published in 1974 by Wycliffe Bible Translators. [1] Eastern Highland Otomi (also known as Sierra Otomi or Yųhų) is an Oto-Manguean language spoken by approximately 61,000 people in the highlands of eastern Hidalgo, western Veracruz, and northern Puebla in central Mexico. [2] The translation work was carried out with the involvement of SIL International linguists, including Viola Waterhouse, who contributed translation notes on Otomi as early as the 1960s. [3] Bible portions in this language were produced as early as 1951, with the complete New Testament following in 1974. [4]
