Panjabi Easy to Read Bible (PANWTC)
Overview
The Panjabi Easy to Read Bible is an Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) translation of the complete Bible in Punjabi, written in the Gurmukhi script and published in 2006. The ERV was developed by the World Bible Translation Center (WBTC), a subsidiary of Bible League International founded in 1973 in Arlington, Texas. [1] The ERV originated as the English Version for the Deaf in 1978 and was later expanded into multiple languages using simplified vocabulary and shorter sentences, making it accessible to readers for whom the language is a second language or who have limited literacy. [1] The Punjabi ERV provides both Old and New Testaments and is designed to convey the full meaning of the original biblical texts in a style that is clear and easy to understand. [2]
