Pohnpeian Bible with Apocrypha 2006 (PONSSP)

Overview

The Pohnpeian Bible with Apocrypha (PONSSP) is the 2006 Catholic edition of the Holy Bible in the Pohnpeian language of the Federated States of Micronesia, published by the Bible Society in the South Pacific. This edition includes the Deuterocanonical books (Apocrypha), making it suitable for Catholic liturgical use, and serves as a companion volume to the Protestant edition PONPSA, which contains only the New Testament and Psalms. Both editions use the modern Pohnpeian orthography, replacing an older translation that employed a different alphabet system. [1] Christian mission work on Pohnpei began in 1852 with American Board missionaries, and Bible translation has a long history on the island, with early Scripture portions dating to the 1850s. [2]
