Paranan New Testament (PRFWBT)

Overview

The Paranan New Testament (En Maganda A Bareta Biblia) was published in 2012 as the first Scripture translation in the Paranan language, spoken by approximately 18,000 people in northeastern Isabela, Philippines. [1] The translation was produced by Paranan mother-tongue translators, some of whom are members of Wycliffe Philippines and the Northern Philippine Mother Tongue Translators' Association (NPMTTA). Translation consultants came from the Philippine Bible Society (PBS), the Translators Association of the Philippines (TAP), and the Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL). [1] The project was guided by the Paranan Bible Translators Advisory Council (PBTAC), whose members represent the Catholic Church, Methodist Church, and Indigenous Christian Church of the Philippines (ICCP). [1] Following the completion of the New Testament, the translation team has continued work on the Old Testament, with 39 books completed and Isaiah and Ezekiel still in progress as of recent reports.
