Bambam Bible (PTULAI)

Overview

The New Testament and Genesis in the Bambam language of Indonesia, published in 2004 by the Indonesian Bible Society (Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia) in cooperation with Wycliffe Bible Translators. [1] The translation is titled Suha' Maseho: Kadadiam anna Pa'dandiam Bakahu. Bambam belongs to the Pitu Ulunna Salu language group, a subgroup within the Northern branch of the South Sulawesi languages. [2] The Bambam people reside in the highlands of West Sulawesi province, primarily in the Mamasa regency, in a mountainous region with peaks reaching up to 3,000 meters. [2] The name "Pitu Ulunna Salu" literally means "seven heads of rivers," referring to a historical confederacy of seven upland polities that included the Bambam. [2]
