Huallaga Huánuco Quechua Bible (QUBPBS)
Overview
A full Bible translation in Huallaga Huánuco Quechua, a Central Quechua variety spoken in the Huallaga River valley of eastern Peru. The New Testament was completed first and published by the Peruvian Bible Society in cooperation with Wycliffe Bible Translators. The full Bible, titled Tayta Diosninchi Isquirbichishan, was dedicated on August 6, 2011 in the village of Conchumayo, Peru, with approximately 4,000 people in attendance and 1,400 copies sold. [1] The translation was guided by David Weber, a Wycliffe/SIL linguist who worked with the Huallaga Quechua community from 1972 to 2002 and authored A Grammar of Huallaga (Huánuco) Quechua (UCLA, 1983). [2] This was the first complete Bible translation in any Central Quechua variety. [3]
