Cajamarca Quechua New Testament (QVCWBT)

Overview

The Cajamarca Quechua New Testament, titled Mushuq Tistamintu, is a translation of the 27 books of the New Testament into Cajamarca Quechua, a Quechuan language spoken in the Cajamarca region of northern Peru. Published in 2008 by Wycliffe Bible Translators in cooperation with Liga Biblica Internacional, this translation serves one of the more isolated Quechua-speaking communities in Peru. [1] Cajamarca Quechua is part of the broader Quechua language family, which was the primary language of the Inca Empire and today has an estimated 8 to 10 million speakers across South America. [2] The Cajamarca variety is spoken in a few villages in the Cajamarca highlands, a community whose ancestors may have been settled there through the Inca mitma (state-sponsored resettlement) system.
