The Gospel of Luke in Romanian Bayash (RONBAY)
Overview
This is a translation of the Gospel of Luke into Bayash Romanian, published in 2018. The Bayash (also known as Boyash or Băieși) are a Roma subgroup found across Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, and Romania who speak an archaic variety of Romanian rather than Romani. [1] The translation was produced as part of a multi-language Roma Scripture project coordinated by Pioneers and the Roma Bible Union, which translated the Gospel of Luke and 50 chronological Bible stories into five Roma languages: Bayash, Ludari, Arli, Gurbet, and Chergash. [2] The project targeted Roma communities in Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, and Montenegro, and the Bayash portions were made available in print, eBook, and audio formats. [3]
