Rundi 2007 Edition (RUNBSB)
Overview
This is a 2007 edition of the Kirundi (Rundi) New Testament published by the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of South Africa. Kirundi is the national language of Burundi, spoken by virtually the entire population and mutually intelligible with Kinyarwanda of neighboring Rwanda. The first complete Kirundi Bible was the work of Rosemary Guillebaud (1915--2004), a British translator with the Church Missionary Society, who completed the New Testament in 1951 and the Old Testament in 1961, working closely with indigenous translators including Stephano Ndimubandi. [1] Guillebaud's translation was supported by the British and Foreign Bible Society and used across multiple denominations. [1] The Bible Society of Burundi was formally established in 1967 on the initiative of fifteen local churches. [2]
