Sena New Testament Portions (SEHWBT)

Overview

The Sena New Testament Portions (Sena do Novo Testamento) were first published in 1983 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, providing New Testament Scripture to the Sena-speaking communities of central Mozambique [1]. Sena is a Bantu language spoken primarily in the provinces of Tete, Sofala, Zambezia, and Manica, with approximately two million speakers [2]. A revised Sena New Testament was later dedicated on March 21, 2015, in Beira, Mozambique, where the governor of Sofala Province sent an official representative to deliver a speech expressing the government's full support for the distribution of the New Testament in Sena, noting the positive transformation it produced in people's lives [3]. Following the dedication ceremony, those gathered rushed outside to purchase their own copies of the Sena New Testament [3].
