Nyarafolo (Senari) New Testament + (SEVWBT)
Overview
The Nyarafolo Senoufo New Testament+ (Nyarafolo Senoufo Kulocɛliɛ siɛnsɛbɛrɛ) is a Scripture translation for the Nyarafolo Senoufo people of northern Cote d'Ivoire, published in 2019 by Wycliffe Bible Translators. The Nyarafolo (also spelled Niarafolo) are a Senoufo subgroup concentrated in the region around Ferkessedougou in northern Cote d'Ivoire, numbering approximately 60,000 speakers [1]. The community is strongly rooted in traditional local religion, and social structures make individual conversion to Christianity particularly challenging, as those who convert may face persecution and ostracism from their village [2]. In addition to the written New Testament, Faith Comes By Hearing partnered with Theovision to record an audio Bible in Nyarafolo Senoufo beginning in May 2021, a project complicated by the fact that many of the voice actors could not read their mother tongue and required the translator to read lines aloud for them to repeat; the audio Bible was completed and released in October 2021 [2].
