Yayasan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Desa (NT Portions) (SLUWBT)

Overview

The Selaru New Testament Portions, titled Kitab-kitab yang siap dipublikasikan (meaning "Books ready for publication"), were published in 2020 by Wycliffe Bible Translators in partnership with the Yayasan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Desa (YPMD, Foundation for the Advancement of Local Peoples) [1][2]. Selaru is an Austronesian language of the Central-Eastern Malayo-Polynesian branch, spoken by approximately 8,000 to 19,000 people on Selaru Island and neighboring islets in the Tanimbar Archipelago of Maluku Province, eastern Indonesia [3][4]. Bible translation into Selaru was pioneered by early translators including Meli Hulkyawar, Thom Lurusmanat, Ecu Masombe, Nico Watumlawar, and Sony Loblobly, and has been continued since 2006 by a team including Bob Haluruk, Sem Malisngorar, Wem Refualu, Anto Nureroan, and Yaya Masombe [5]. The YPMD, based in Tanimbar, also maintains Bible translations in the related Fordata and Yamdena languages and has produced complementary materials including Jesus films, hymns, and literacy resources in Selaru [2].
