Bible of America (SPABDA)

Overview

The Biblia de América is a Catholic Spanish Bible first published in 1994 by La Casa de la Biblia, a Spanish organization founded in 1964 by a group of biblical scholars committed to spreading Scripture in the post-Vatican II era. [1] The translation was directed by Santiago Guijarro Oporto and Miguel Salvador García, working with an interdisciplinary team of Latin American biblical scholars. [2] It was designed as a pastoral Bible for the Catholic Church in Spanish-speaking Latin America, using accessible, simplified language while maintaining fidelity to the Hebrew and Greek source texts. [1] The Biblia de América includes the deuterocanonical books and has received approval from the Mexican Episcopal Conference and authorization from the Episcopal Conferences of Colombia and Chile. [3] It is published in the Americas by PPC and distributed by Verbo Divino. [2]
