Serbian Easy-to-Read Version (SRPERV)

Overview

The Serbian Easy-to-Read Version (ERV), titled "Biblija: Savremeni srpski prevod" (Bible: Contemporary Serbian Translation), is a full Bible translation in modern Serbian published by Bible League International. [1] It is part of the global Easy-to-Read Version series originally developed by the World Bible Translation Center (WBTC), which was founded in 1973 in Arlington, Texas, with the aim of producing clear, accessible translations in major world languages. [2] The WBTC later merged with Bible League International, which now holds the copyright and continues distribution. [2] The Serbian ERV uses contemporary language designed to make the biblical text understandable for modern readers, avoiding archaic constructions. A Serbian New Testament in the ERV was available by 2006, with the full Bible (including Old Testament) completed by 2015. [3] The translation is available both in Cyrillic and Latin script editions and can be accessed through Bible Gateway, the YouVersion Bible App, and as a standalone mobile application. [1] [4]
