Sembeleke Bible (SSXPNG)
Overview
The New Testament and Genesis in the Sembeleke (Samberigi) language of Papua New Guinea, completed in 1991 and published by the Bible Society of Papua New Guinea. [1] The translation was produced by Ken Macnaughtan. [2] The Samberigi people (also known as Sau) live in the Southern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea and are of coastal or Papuan descent. [3] The Sembeleke language has approximately 3,000 speakers, making this a small-language translation typical of the extensive Bible translation work carried out across Papua New Guinea's hundreds of distinct language communities.
