Tennet Bible (NT and OT portions) (TEXWBT)
Overview
The Tennet Bible contains the New Testament plus Genesis, Exodus 1-20, and Ruth in the Tennet language of South Sudan. Translation began in 1993 when two Tennet pastors studying at Bible college in Kijabe, Kenya, requested SIL's assistance, and SIL linguist Scott Randal started the project. [1] Lead translator Adelino Amargira continued the work alone when other translators abandoned the project due to insecurity from civil war. [2] The New Testament was printed in 2020, but COVID-19 delayed delivery. The first copies were delivered by MAF pilot Raphael Flach on 18 January 2022, and the dedication ceremony was held on 23 January 2022 in Arilo. [1]
