Tharaka 2002 Edition (THKBTL)
Overview
The Tharaka 2002 Edition is the New Testament in the Tharaka language, translated by Bible Translation and Literacy (BTL) in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators. BTL began working with the Tharaka people in 1988, and the New Testament was dedicated on 26 August 2001. [1] Albert Kathenya served as project leader of the Tharaka New Testament translation team from 1988 to 2001. [2] Onesmus Kamwara later served as Tharaka Project Officer and Consultant in Training. [3] The Tharaka people live in Tharaka Nithi County on the low plains between the eastern slopes of Mount Kenya and the upper Tana River, numbering approximately 176,000 according to the 2009 Kenya census. [1] The complete Tharaka Bible was dedicated on 13 June 2019. [1]
