Xicotepec De Juárez Totonac New Testament (TOOWBT)
Overview
The Xicotepec De Juárez Totonac New Testament was published in 1978 by Wycliffe Bible Translators and La Liga Biblica, providing Scripture in a Totonac variety spoken in the Sierra Norte region of Puebla, Mexico. [1] Xicotepec De Juárez Totonac (also known as Northern Totonac or Totonaco Norte) is a member of the Totonacan language family, which includes both Totonac and Tepehua branches, spoken across the states of Puebla, Hidalgo, and Veracruz. [2] SIL linguists including Reid and Bishop conducted research on this language variety in Xicotepec de Juárez, Puebla, during the 1970s, contributing to both the linguistic documentation and Scripture translation effort.
