Tinputz Vasui New Testament (TPZWBT)

Overview

The New Testament in the Vasui dialect of the Tinputz language of Papua New Guinea, published under the vernacular title Soe a To'to'. Vasui (also known as Tinputz) is an Austronesian language spoken by approximately 10,000 people in the Teop-Tinputz district of Bougainville Province. [1] [2] SIL linguists Roman and Carolyn Hostetler began linguistic work on the language in the 1970s, publishing a description of Tinputz phonology in 1975 and compiling a Vasui dictionary. [3] Bible portions in Vasui were produced between 1975 and 1983, and the New Testament was completed in 2005 by Wycliffe Bible Translators. [1] The translation is available in print, audio, and digital formats, and the JESUS Film has also been produced in the Vasui language. [1]
