Living Tswana New Testament 1993 (TSNBIB)

Overview

Lefoko: La Botshelo Kgolagano e Ntsha (The Word: Living New Covenant) is a Tswana-language paraphrase of the New Testament, published in 1993 by the International Bible Society (now Biblica). It was produced as part of the international Living Bible tradition founded by Kenneth N. Taylor through Living Bibles International (LBI), which created paraphrased Scriptures in approximately 100 languages before merging with the International Bible Society in 1992. [1] Tswana has a long history of Bible translation: missionary Robert Moffat produced the first Setswana New Testament in 1840 and a complete Bible in 1857, making it one of the earliest Bible translations in a sub-Saharan African language. [2] The Living Tswana New Testament provides a contemporary paraphrase alongside the more formal Setswana Bibles produced by the Bible Society of South Africa (1970) and others.
