Sikaritai (Sikari, also called Aikwakai or Tori Aikwakai) is a Lakes Plain language of Papua Province, Indonesia, spoken by approximately 2,000 people in the villages of Haya, Eri, and Sikari in Rufaer District, Mamberamo Raya Regency. Lakes Plain languages are typologically unusual among the world's languages, notably lacking nasal consonants and featuring a two-tone system. The Sikaritai community is exceptionally remote, accessible primarily by small aircraft or river travel through the Mamberamo basin interior. Scripture in Sikaritai was produced under the sponsorship of Gereja Injili di Indonesia (GII), the Evangelical Church in Indonesia, which has worked alongside indigenous Papuan church communities to support Bible translation for minority language groups across Papua. The audio New Testament is's Bible.is platform, providing oral scripture access to a community for whom remote location and low literacy levels make audio formats the most practical medium for engaging with scripture.
